This trend is mainly due to two factors,' explains Dr Aldo Sinigaglia, spinal surgeon at the Ars Medica Group's Spinal Column Centre, with headquarters in Manno and outpatient clinic in Muralto. 'I was saying,' Sinigaglia warns, 'that there are two reasons for the increase in cases. The first is linked to life expectancy: today it is longer than in the past. The second is related to incorrect posture, or intense sports activities. In addition, we now have more precise diagnostics that allow us to detect pathologies early and intervene in time'.
