Pain therapy
Pain therapy is concerned with the reduction of pain and is focussed primarily on the relief of chronic or acute pain. Acute pain involves an important defensive mechanism of the body that signals wounds and impending lesions. Chronic pain is in most cases a sign of one or more malfunctions of the human body.
Treatment
Depending on the severity and nature of the pain and the patient‘s general state of health, various treatment options of varying degrees of invasiveness are available:
- drug treatment
- nerve stimulation
- interventions (blockade or implants)
- surgery
- psychological support
- physiotherapeutic measures
