World Orthoptics Day

Created by theInternational Orthoptic Association, World Orthoptic Day (WOD) aims to highlight the profession of orthoptist and to promote the profession locally, nationally and internationally.

Orthoptics is a discipline involved in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of visual function disorders (motor, sensory or functional) due to poor coordination of the two eyes or following trauma, for all patients, from infants to the elderly.

Orthoptists assess visual capacity by carrying out exploratory examinations (fundus photographs, measurement of eye pressure, assessment of the visual field, etc.).

Following an orthoptic assessment, they make an orthoptic diagnosis and propose a re-education programme tailored to each individual.
