Patient information

The Luzerner Höhenklinik Montana is open to all patients who require therapy within the clinic's treatment spectrum. We specialise in diseases of the lungs and respiratory tract.

Who are our patients?

If you have had an operation on your heart, back or musculoskeletal system, our specialists and therapists are your first choice. Internal oncological rehabilitation is also one of our specialist areas. People with psychosomatic illnesses find healing nature and effective forms of therapy with us. More and more burnout patients are choosing Montana for their recovery. In our sleep laboratory - naturally modern and equipped with the latest technology - we carry out sleep analyses.

We accept patients from all insurance classes, from all cantons and also from abroad. If you choose the Lucerne Montana High Altitude Clinic for your rehabilitation, you can expect treatments and therapies that fully meet your needs, including fresh mountain air and an extra portion of friendliness.

Who is paying?

Your health insurance will cover the costs of inpatient rehabilitation once you have received a valid cost approval - especially if you have supplementary hospital insurance (general insurance for the whole of Switzerland, semi-private or private supplementary insurance). If you are only insured under the canton of residence insurance model (OKP), find out in advance about any costs that are not covered by your health insurance. In various cantons in Switzerland (Lucerne, Valais, Nidwalden and for pneumology in the cantons of Uri and Zug), the Lucerne Montana High Altitude Clinic is on the hospital list, which makes it possible to take out OKP insurance. Depending on the tariffs set by the other cantons (reference tariffs), admission to OKP is also possible there. Would you like more information? The clinic will of course be happy to provide you with information about the expected costs. Give us a call (Tel. 027 485 82 82) or contact us using the contact form(to the contact form). You can find a list of tariffs here: Tariffs.

Are you a self-payer or a patient from abroad? If so, a deposit must be paid on the day of admission after prior consultation with the admissions office.

Depending on your health insurance cover, you will be admitted to the private, semi-private or general ward. If you have private or semi-private insurance, you will enjoy close supervision by the head physicians, a comfortable single room with a south-facing view and free TV and Internet. Of course, patients with general insurance can also enjoy excellent treatment and care. This is what we guarantee.

Outpatient treatment

The Lucerne High Altitude Clinic also provides outpatient treatment. They stay in a hotel and visit the clinic during the day for their therapies.

The Luzerner Höhenklinik Montana also provides outpatient care. This means, for example, that you stay in a hotel and visit the clinic during the day to attend your therapy appointments. This is certainly an option for lung and respiratory diseases, heart problems or musculoskeletal problems. However, it is important to check this option with your health insurance provider in advance and clarify whether the costs are covered. Please speak to your doctor or get in touch with us. We will be happy to clarify this for you. In the case of outpatient treatment, you benefit from our special conditions in the neighbouring hotels in Crans-Montana.

However, many indications require inpatient treatment, which we offer for the majority of our patients.

Are you interested in outpatient treatment?

We will be happy to make the necessary enquiries for you. Give us a call or contact us using the contact form.

Stay

What happens from the time you arrive until you leave? When do you arrive, what does everyday hospital life look like and how will you be discharged? We have compiled the answers to all these questions for you.

We want to make your stay with us as pleasant as possible. Your well-being is important to us. Rehabilitation should be successful and you should be able to concentrate solely on your recovery. That is why you will find all the relevant information below. Are you missing something or do you have a question? Our patient administration team will be happy to help you.

Before your stay

You choose the clinic. Your attending doctor or the hospital where you were treated will take care of the referral. In cooperation with the referring centre, we will take care of the cost approval from your health insurance company.

As soon as we have a valid cost approval from your health insurance company, there is nothing standing in the way of your admission to the Luzerner Höhenklinik Montana. We will arrange the date of admission with you by telephone. You will receive the admission documents by post or will be informed of your admission by the referring hospital.

Day of

We look forward to seeing you at the reception of the Luzerner Höhenklinik Montana by 13:30 at the latest. We will welcome you there and give you some initial important information about your stay. Lunch has already been pre-booked for you. Enjoy it in peace and quiet in the Höhenklinik dining room with a view of the surrounding mountains. Depending on the availability of our nursing staff, we will accompany you to your room before or after lunch.

In the afternoon, you will be greeted by your ward doctor. He will be responsible for the admission examination. The ward doctor will of course also be happy to answer any medical questions you may have. For further appointments with the nursing staff, the team of therapists and the responsible senior doctor, please refer to the daily schedule in your room. All appointments take place in the patient's room on the day of admission. Dinner is reserved for you in the dining room from 17:40. The time after dinner is at your disposal.

Your stay

From the day of admission, you will receive your personal daily programme for the following day in the evening. This will show the therapy times, visiting times and therapy locations.
On your second day with us, you will usually have the diagnostic examinations prescribed by your doctor, such as X-rays, ECG, lung function, laboratory tests, etc.

We draw up your therapy programme based on your previous knowledge from the admission documents and the initial examination. During your stay, we will continuously review the therapies and adapt them to your needs.

Your daily routine consists of

  • Individual and group therapies
  • counselling sessions
  • Training lectures
  • medical visits

You are free in the evenings and can devote yourself to your own interests. The admission procedure is reduced for admissions at weekends or on public holidays.

Your exit

Our commitment to you does not end when you are discharged from rehabilitation. To ensure the long-term success of your therapy and the best possible quality of life, regular follow-up care is sometimes necessary. We initiate this follow-up care. Our discharge planning therefore begins as soon as you are admitted. We take into account your needs and circumstances at home. To enable you to lead a largely independent life at home, adjustments are sometimes necessary - whether in your abilities or in your environment.

At the end of your stay, your attending physician will organise a discharge meeting. We will inform your family doctor and any doctors and therapists providing further treatment immediately and in detail about the success of your rehabilitation, answer any questions and - if necessary - ensure that you receive further treatment.
