Cécile Robert, Deputy Head of Occupational Therapy at the Clinique Valmont, tells us more about MindMotion™ Go, the Clinique Valmont's latest acquisition, which offers an innovative, fun approach to physical and cognitive rehabilitation.
MindMotion™ Go is a medical device for physical and cognitive rehabilitation, designed by the company Mindmaze. In practical terms, it consists of a box and cameras connected to a screen. The device is similar to the Wii, which is well known to the general public. However, it has a number of advantages over its big sister. It is highly versatile, and can be used to work the upper limbs, lower limbs, hands and trunk using targeted, precise movements. Some exercises can even be used to improve coordination, for example, by combining movements of the trunk and arms.
The aim is to increase patient compliance with the therapies by getting them moving in a fun, interactive way. The patient works, but without realising it.
The MindMotion™ Go is a device used in rehabilitation centres, but unlike the clinic's other devices, it can also be used at home. Patients can hire and install the device at home. Thanks to the installation of a personalised therapeutic programme, they can continue training independently, in addition to the therapies with the occupational therapist. What's more, it's the only piece of equipment in the occupational therapy department that can work all parts of the body.
