Orthopaedics deals with acute and chronic diseases and malformations of the musculoskeletal system. This includes, for example, bones, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments.
One of the most common joint diseases is arthrosis, a progressive loss of cartilage that increasingly leads to joint pain and impaired movement in the course of the disease. The symptoms can be kept under control with modern therapy options.
Early treatment can delay the progression of the disease and thus the need for an artificial joint. If conservative therapies do not bring the desired success and the pain and impairments massively reduce the quality of life, surgical intervention may have to be considered.
This includes, for example, joint arthroscopies, joint-preserving operations or an artificial joint replacement.
