Dr. Giovanni Barco, born in Varese on 23 May 1958, after regular lower education, he obtained his classical high school diploma in 1973.
He enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pavia in the academic year 1918/79, and from the fourth year began attending the Department of Plastic Surgery at the same faculty in the San Matteo General Hospital, as an intern with the assignment of clinical-experimental research on melanomas and at the same time began his surgical activity.
In the academic year 1983/84 he graduated with a clinical-experimental thesis for which he worked during the last two years with a follow-up of about 2000 patients, with the title: "CHIRURGICAL THERAPY OF MELANOMA: our clinical experience in the decade 1970-1979".
In 1985 he won the competition for admission to the School of Specialty in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Pavia, and in the same year he presented his thesis at the World Melanoma Congress in Venice, at the Cini Foundation.
At the same time he started working at the Plastic Surgery Department of the Policlinico San Matteo, a collaboration that lasted until early 1995.
During the five years of his specialty course (1985/1990), he collaborated with the largest national and international centres in his branch of specialty at repeated intervals.
