As an alternative or complement to surgery, the Back Rehabilitation Centre offers a programme combining physiotherapy and occupational therapy to help you achieve lasting relief from pain. On medical prescription, it is aimed at people who are motivated to change their lifestyle and environment.
Most back problems are benign and disappear within a few weeks. However, chronic back pain can develop, having a lasting effect on your quality of life and making it difficult for you to carry out your activities.
The aim of our programme is to treat this chronic pain and improve your quality of life. Reducing your pain over the long term, by adopting a new routine to maintain your personal and professional activities, is at the heart of our concerns.
Our therapists are committed to offering you personalised follow-up to help you improve your habits and lifestyle.
This programme is carried out on medical prescription and is aimed at all patients suffering from disabling back pain on a daily basis.
Physiotherapy enables us to assess the causes of pain and treat it with targeted exercises and movements. The aim is to strengthen your back in order to combat the pain. The physiotherapist will develop a muscle-strengthening and flexibility programme tailored to your abilities. Weekly targets will be set to help you progress.
Occupational therapy will help you find ways to manage your back pain on a daily basis, using specific exercises and movements. The aim is to keep you active and on the move. It's all about finding the right movements, but also the right posture, so that you can move at any time without feeling pain. To do this, he will give you advice on how to adapt your activities. Weekly targets will be set to help you progress.
You will also be invited to take part in two group sessions. The first is a theory and discussion session, during which you will have the opportunity to ask questions and share with people following the same programme as you. The second group session is a walking session, to allow our therapists to give you real-life recommendations.
During an initial session with our specialists, an overall assessment will be carried out. Together with the therapists, you will define your objectives and the frequency of individual sessions over the coming weeks.
As part of an overall approach, you may also be offered support from a psychologist and/or dietician.
