Neuropaediatrics, also known as paediatric neurology, is a branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, management and treatment of neurological disorders in infants, children and adolescents.
Neurological disorders in children can range from relatively common conditions such as headaches and seizures to rare and complex conditions such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and genetic disorders of the brain and nervous system.
Neuropaediatrics involves a multidisciplinary approach to treatment in which paediatric neurologists work closely with other healthcare professionals, including paediatricians, neurosurgeons, neuropsychologists and physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
The goal of neuropaediatrics is to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to children with neurological disorders to improve their quality of life and help them achieve the best possible outcomes.
