A complete success: The first public lecture of 2023
On 2 February at 6:30 pm, the time had finally come: The first of many planned public lectures took place at the Privatklinik Bethanien. The expert Dr. med. Marcel Gloyer, who specialises in the treatment of osteoarthritis in the knee joint, kicked things off. More than 40 guests took the opportunity to have their questions answered by the expert.
The topic of the evening: «Individual therapy of knee complaints». In his talk, Dr Gloyer made it clear that the causes of knee osteoarthritis are just as varied as the therapy options. For the expert, it is therefore particularly important to find the ideal treatment for each patient. Because a standard solution that fits all patients equally does not yet exist.
He also discussed the challenges of an artificial knee joint: Currently, about 15 per cent of all operated patients are not satisfied with the result. One possible solution: individual prostheses that are custom-made for each patient.
A big thank you goes to Symbios, the sponsors of the evening, for their kind support.
