Let's start with a necessary premise: what are lymphatic disorders such as lymphoedema and lipedema?
«Lymphoedema is a stagnation of lymph caused by an abnormality of the lymphatic system. It is a clinical picture characterised, therefore, by blockage or slowing of the lymphatic circulation in the affected limbs. In such a condition, the lymphatic transport does not allow the total management of the load of cells and plasma proteins. Lipedema, on the other hand, is a progressive, disabling and chronic condition characterised by the accumulation of abnormal amounts of subcutaneous fat in the legs (specifically from the buttocks to the ankles) and sometimes also in the arms. Lipedema often occurs in parallel with problems of obesity or overweight, which is also why it is difficult to diagnose.»
