Innovative lymphedema treatment at Privatklinik Bethanien
The Bethanien Private Clinic is offering a new, highly specialized treatment method for patients with lymphedema. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Mario Scaglioni, the so-called lymphovenous anastomosis (LVA) is performed – a microsurgical procedure that channels lymph fluid directly into the veins, thus sustainably reducing lymphedema.
This minimally invasive technique helps patients who suffer from painful swelling after breast cancer surgery and offers a long-term solution compared to conventional treatment approaches. One example of the success of this method is Dr. Dorothée Rhein Straub, an emergency physician who was affected by severe lymphedema after her breast cancer treatment and is now able to work without restrictions thanks to the LVA.
