«In 1978 I fell off a horse and fractured a vertebra: I spent three weeks in the clinic in Novaggio, with severe pain and painkillers, and three years in a corset with splints.» It was an ordeal that Sandra still remembers when, in 2017, she fractured two more vertebrae: «I was galloping on horseback when I felt a big crack and a very strong pain.» At the Clinica Ars Medica in Gravesano, the response confirmed the fracture of two dorsal vertebrae, but this time they opted for vertebroplasty surgery: «Dr. Maurizio Pintucci, performed a vertebroplasty to the two fractured vertebrae and already the day after the operation I felt like touching the sky with one finger because of the immediate great relief from the pain.»
