Welcome!
We welcome the new neurosurgeons, Dr. med. Jens Fichtner and Dr. med. Frank Wernli, to the Medical Centre Murten!
From 6 May, we will be holding consultation hours for complaints of the spine.
The two specialists, Dr. med. Jens Fichtner and Dr. med. Frank Wernli, will be offering their expertise in the conservative and surgical treatment of the spine.
After studying human medicine, Jens Fichtner, MD, began his specialist training in neurosurgery at the Emergency Hospital in Berlin in 2009 and moved to Inselspital Bern in 2010, where he worked in neurosurgery from 2010 to 2020. He deepened his focus on spine surgery in 2016 with a one-year spine fellowship with a permanent position at the Klinikum rechts der Isar of the TU Munich. In 2019, Jens Fichtner received the advanced training title in Interventional Pain Management (SSIPM) and holds the advanced spine diploma of Eurospine as well as the master's certificate of the German Spine Society. Since April 2020, the neurosurgeon has been working together with Frank Wernli, MD, in the Rückenpraxis BS in Bern and Solothurn.
Frank Wernli, MD, completed his medical studies at the University of Zurich, obtained his specialist title in 1998 and received a further training diploma in interventional pain therapy (SSIPM) in 2012. He practised neurosurgery in the cantonal hospitals of Chur and Aarau, in the University Hospital of Zurich, and from 1999 to 2001 he was chief physician in the Cantonal Hospital of Winterthur. During this time he held a teaching position at the medical faculty of the University of Zurich. He then worked as an independent attending physician at the Lindenhof Hospital until 2007, was a consultant and attending physician at the Bürgerspital Solothurn and then moved to the Hirslanden Clinics in Bern.
With their specialist knowledge, Jens Fichtner MD and Frank Wernli MD will ideally complement the spectrum of the Murten Medical Centre.
We are very much looking forward to working with them!
