Stay

Stay

The date of admission and appointments for any medical investigations will be agreed and organised in cooperation with the doctor according to your needs. To enable us to obtain a commitment of payment from your health insurance company, we require a copy of your insurance policy.

Admission

Upon admission, you will be greeted at reception. You will be taken to your room and informed about your daily schedule and available services. Please bring with you your blood group, any X-rays, ECG or laboratory test results you have taken, as well as any medication you are taking.

Please do not bring valuables or large amounts of money with you. Your personal expenses can be paid by credit card or EC-Direct at the reception desk upon departure.

Discharge

The date of discharge will be agreed with the attending physician. The nursing staff will be happy to help you with your luggage. The nursing staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have about nursing care after discharge, medication and other medical matters.

Follow-up

If necessary, our staff will be happy to help you organise your care at home, rehabilitation stays, spa treatments and the like.

Patients insured in Switzerland

We offer patients insured in Switzerland with regardless insurance cover:

  • Laboratory analyses
  • X-ray examinations
  • Specialist consultations
  • Urgent consultations in the gynaecology and obstetrics emergency room
  • In- and outpatient treatment
  • Inpatient hospitalisation and surgery

Inpatients are granted hotel treatment in accordance with their insurance cover.

As a Preference customer, in the event of a hospital stay you have the opportunity to take advantage of convenient additional benefits for an all-round service. Our assistance starts before your hospital stay and only ends when you are able to look after yourself again.

Patients are accommodated in spacious and comfortable private rooms equipped with modern furnishings, bathroom with shower, air conditioning, telephone, Wi-Fi connection, television and a small safe.

Upgrades - private benefits

If you are insured in a shared or semi-private division and would like additional benefits, you can treat yourself to the comfort of a single room. For further information please contact your specialist doctor or contact the Admissions Service.

Payment guarantee

The Clinica Ars Medica requires a commitment of payment for the stay from the health insurance company before the patient is admitted. If the health insurance company does not guarantee coverage of all costs, a deposit must be paid prior to admission. In this case, you will be informed in advance by our Coordination Service.

Billing

We issue invoices on the basis of agreements with insurance companies and in accordance with the current health insurance rates of the Canton of Ticino. We arrange for payments directly with the health insurance companies in Switzerland. You will only receive an invoice for services not covered by the health insurance company (such as telephone charges, food and drink consumed by your guests, etc.).

Estimated costs

If you are insured in a shared room and are interested in a stay in our clinic, we will be happy to provide you with a non-binding estimate for your stay. We are also happy to provide an estimate for an upgrade from semi-private to private or for an overnight stay in one of our suites or junior suites.

Other services

As well as our excellent medical and nursing services, we can offer you other services on request, which can be tailored to your needs, requests and wishes. These include, for example, chauffeur services, hotel bookings, manicures, pedicures, massages, hairdressing, babysitting and dietary advice.

During your stay

What to bring with you from home

To make your stay as pleasant as possible, please bring your own toiletries (comb, toothbrush and toothpaste, razor, body lotion, etc.). Please also bring slippers, pyjamas, a dressing gown, comfortable clothes, underwear, any glasses and hearing aids you may need, tracksuits and trainers. Do not forget to bring along any X-ray results, medical documents and medication if necessary.

Arrival

After registration, you will be accompanied to your room. If necessary, our staff can help you unpack your suitcase. We will be happy to accommodate your needs or special requests whenever possible.

Internet

You can use the free Wi-Fi internet connection.

Telephone

You will be given a phone card with a personal phone number so that you can call in and out of the clinic from your room via the landline network. To avoid misuse, please keep your phone card in a safe place when you leave the room.

Mail

Letters you wish to send can be handed in at reception, where stamps are on sale. Room Service will be happy to take outgoing mail and deliver it to the in-house post office.

Newspapers and magazines

You can find a selection of newspapers, magazines, gifts, cosmetics and various chocolates at the lobby bar. Please contact reception if you would like flowers.

Valuables and precious objects

We advise you not to take jewellery and other valuables with you. The clinic accepts no responsibility for theft or loss. A safe is provided in your room.

The clinic has 75 beds and accommodates patients in comfortable private, semi-private or shared rooms and Junior Suites, equipped with telephone, Wi-Fi connection, television and a personal wardrobe with a small safe.

Gastronomy

In the pleasant ambience of our Bar/Restaurant «L'Incontro», you can entertain yourself with family and friends while enjoying refined dishes proposed by our chef, delicate cold dishes or sipping a drink while consulting the main newspapers of Ticino. During good weather you can also enjoy the splendid outdoor terrace with garden.

The Restaurant «L'Incontro»is open every day from 12:00 to 14:00, and at any time you can delight your palate with the proposals of the «Snack» menu.

How to reach us

The Clinica Ars Medica is located 7 km from Lugano, 378 m above sea level in the municipality of Gravesano, one of the smallest municipalities in Ticino. Its location guarantees maximum tranquillity and privacy for patients.

By car

From the Lugano Nord motorway exit: follow the signs for Varese/Ponte Tresa. At the traffic lights follow the signs for Taverne and then the «H» sign. From Lugano centre: in the direction of Massagno, enter the motorway (A2-E35) and proceed in the direction of Varese/Ponte Tresa. At the traffic lights, follow the signs for Taverne and then the «H» sign.

The Clinic has a limited number of parking spaces for patients and visitors in the area surrounding the building.

The first half-hour parking time is free of charge.

The cash desk is located outside the clinic's main entrance.

By public transport

From the Lamone-Cadempino FFS station, bus to Gravesano. Stop at «Gravesano Posta» or «Grumo di Gravesano».
