After completing his studies at the Faculty of medicine in Geneva, Michel Ange Morales earned his Medical degree in 1991. He started his career as a resident in a number of hospitals (Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève, Montreux and Nyon) between 1991 and 1994. Starting from 1995, he worked in the Gynaecology and obstetrics department at the Maternity Hospital in Geneva. In 1999, he was appointed as Assistant chief resident within the same department, before becoming Chief resident in 2001.
In 2000, he earned his Doctorate in medicine, and in 2002 was given FMH certification in gynaecology and obstetrics. Between 2001 and 2009, Dr Morales worked as Deputy head of department, and was in charge of the High-risk obstetrics unit within the Gynaecology and obstetrics department at the Maternity Hospital in Geneva. In 2009, while still working at the Maternity Hospital in Geneva, he covered the Associate physician role for 25% of hours at the labour ward, and was responsible for supervising and training junior doctors. He would remain in this role until January 2015.
He has been accredited by the Clinique Générale-Beaulieu since 2009, and set up a private practice there that year.
From 1998 to 2008, Dr Michel Ange Morales has taught undergraduates, postgraduates and paramedics, primarily at the Geneva School of Health Sciences and within his clinic. He regularly gives talks at conferences both in Switzerland and abroad.
He has also published a number of articles in domestic and international scientific journals. He has been a member of the Swiss Medical Association (FMH) since 1993, and a member of the Société Suisse de Gynécologie et Obstétrique since 1996.
Dr Morales has also been a member Counsel of service users of the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève since January 2000, and a member of the Project 56 group, focused on construction of the new Maternity hospital. He is an obstetrics representative at the labour ward, operating theatre, admission and reception, and the Infection commission at the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève since March 2002. He also served as a member of the development group and a host of the ENSEMBLE project aimed at labour ward safety from 2003 until he left the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève.
