La Domenica - 'Padel boom, but also injuries'

You have just read some of the terms strictly in Spanish that are part of the ABC of the padel player, the sport born in Mexico in the 1960s and that in the last five years has seen the number of players grow in our latitudes too. One only has to think of the various centres that have sprung up in the area, from Biasca to Sementina, Savosa, Agno... 'But we are witnessing not only a padel boom, but also a boom in injuries'. The statement is made by Franco Bidoglio, a doctor specialising in orthopaedics and sports traumatology operating at the Ars Medica Centro dello Sport in Manno, who continues: "Eighty per cent of the athletes who come to us with padel-related injuries are amateurs and beginners with mainly acute problems. Most of the people I see are middle-aged and the most frequent injuries are muscular and knee injuries'.
