Modem Rete Uno - Caring more for health than disease

Care networks want to reduce costs through prevention and coordination

Health and its costs have been among the main concerns of the Swiss for years. This weekend's vote shows that reforms are possible, but that everyone will have to pitch in if the dynamics of rising health sector costs are to be changed. Among the pilot projects is that of «Résaux de l’Arc» in the Bernese Jura, a company whose partners include the private clinic group Swiss Medical Network, the canton of Bern, and the insurer Visana. It is an integrated care network model in which the insured refers to contracted physicians and operates under the capitation system. That is, the «Résaux de l’Arc» receives and manages a lump sum for each insured. A model that from next year will also be available in Ticino and that aims to bring down health costs through prevention and better coordination of care by limiting the options for the insured.

To discuss the topic are Modem's guests:

  • Michela Pfyffer, director of Clinica Sant'Anna in Sorengo part of the Swiss Medical Network group
  • Christian Garzoni, physician and president of the mediX ticino network of family physicians
  • Bruno Cereghetti, consultant in the health sector, former head of the Health Insurance Office of the Canton of Ticino
