Age-G treadmill therapy and weight relief at Swiss Medical Network

Alter G

Based on technology developed by NASA, the Alter G is used in orthopaedic rehabilitation (sports injuries, sprains, muscle injuries, hip, knee, ankle or foot surgery) and neurological rehabilitation (stroke, hemiplegia, multiple sclerosis).

For which patients is this therapy suitable?

Alter G is used in orthopaedic rehabilitation (sports injuries, sprains, muscle injuries, hip, knee, ankle or foot surgery) and neurological rehabilitation (stroke, hemiplegia, multiple sclerosis).

It is recommended for patients who are able to stand but have weakness or poor coordination.

How it works

The patient's legs are isolated in a sealed enclosure capable of reducing body weight by up to 80%. This allows the patient to walk in a state of micro-gravity, reducing joint stress, minimising impact and facilitating movement. Unlike standard lightening devices (lifting harnesses, balneotherapy, etc.), the Alter G makes it possible to define the exact point at which exercise is pain-free. This makes it easier to move and walk again.

What are the benefits?

As soon as patients enter the machine, they immediately feel a sense of lightness and comfort. The patient feels confident, feels less pain and can perform more natural movements. This re-education exercise enables progress to be made more quickly than standard manual therapy, which is perceived as very positive and rewarding by patients.

What's more, a screen gives patients visual feedback on their walking, enabling them to analyse their gait live and thus increase their motivation.
The Clinique Valmont is very proud to have acquired the Alter G training device, which is already showing spectacular results.
